Gameplay

Q: How do I control my snake?
A: Use arrow keys or WASD on desktop. On mobile, swipe in the direction you want to move. Your snake will continuously move forward — you only control the direction.
Q: What are the different game modes?
A: Snake Battle features 8 game modes: Classic (traditional snake), Power-up (special abilities), Timed (race against the clock), Elimination (last snake standing), Team Battle (2v2 or 3v3), Bounty Hunt (target specific players), Shrink Mode (arena gets smaller), and Battle Royale (100 players).
Q: How does scoring work?
A: You earn points by eating food pellets (+10 points), collecting power-ups (+25 points), and eliminating other snakes (+50 points). Your score determines your position on the leaderboard.
Q: What do the different power-ups do?
A: Speed Boost (move faster for 5 seconds), Shield (invincibility for 3 seconds), Magnet (attract nearby food), Ghost (pass through walls and snakes), and Shrink (temporarily reduce your size). Power-ups appear as glowing orbs on the map.

Multiplayer

Q: Is Snake Battle multiplayer?
A: Yes! Most game modes support real-time multiplayer with players from around the world. You'll see other players' snakes moving in real-time on the same map.
Q: Can I play with friends?
A: Currently, matchmaking is automatic. Private rooms and friend invites are planned for a future update. For now, you can try to join the same game mode at the same time.
Q: How many players can be in one game?
A: It depends on the mode. Classic and Power-up support up to 20 players. Team Battle supports 4-6 players. Battle Royale can have up to 100 players.

Technical Issues

Q: The game is laggy or slow. What can I do?
A: Try closing other browser tabs and applications. Make sure you have a stable internet connection. If using mobile, close background apps. Lowering your browser zoom to 100% can also help.
Q: My snake isn't responding to controls.
A: Make sure the game window is focused (click on it). Check that your keyboard or touchscreen is working properly. Try refreshing the page. If the issue persists, try a different browser.
Q: I got disconnected from a game. Why?
A: Disconnections can happen due to internet connection issues, server maintenance, or browser problems. Your progress in that game will be lost, but you can immediately start a new game.

Account & Progress

Q: Do I need to create an account?
A: No account is required to play. However, this means your scores and progress are not saved between sessions. We're considering adding optional accounts in the future.
Q: How do leaderboards work?
A: Leaderboards show the top players in the current session. They reset periodically (daily or weekly depending on the mode). Your highest score in each mode is tracked during your current play session.

Safety & Privacy

Q: Is Snake Battle safe for kids?
A: Yes! Snake Battle contains no violence, inappropriate content, or chat features. It's a family-friendly game suitable for all ages.
Q: What data do you collect?
A: We collect minimal anonymous data (game statistics, browser type, general location) to improve the game. We do not collect personal information. See our Snake IO Unblocked Privacy Policy for details.
